Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - Freischwingender Sessel

The works exhibited in the Gate House are part of the Arts and Crafts and Sculptures collection. The art eras Historicism, Art Nouveau, Bauhaus and Art Deco, the 1950s and Post-modernism are presented over four floors

The Art Nouveau floor displays furniture, glassware, ceramics and jewellery by E. Gallé, H. van de Velde, R. Riemerschmid and L.C. Tiffany.

Objects by Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Otto Lindig etc. can be seen from the '20s and '30s; tapestries from these years show the high standard of textile art.

The '50s are present through design objects by Braun, Olivetti, H. Oestreich and W. Wagenfeld. Dieter Rams, Ettore Sottsass ("Memphis"), M. Thun, Draenert and Pentagon provide evidence of the product design of the present.

Temporary exhibitions are organised on a regular basis.
